It was like the M 235i(?) or something like that it was the 2 series with the m package.

I know I will sound like a luddite but what bugs me about the new car more than the weight is the electric power steering.

Feel was already lost when cars went from no power steering to hydraulic power steering. Going to electric power assist is just too much for my mind. The feedback is simulated by a computer. That's weirder than a DCT to me because you're using the steering wheel 100% of the time but only shifting some lower percentage of the time.

Dct is great especially BMW's. The electric power steering in the new 3 had less feeling then any car I own. By far one of the least confidence inspiring systems I used, hell I was drifting (almost into the next lane) due to not being able to correct the steering to keep me going straight as it felt like the ratio kept changing. Porsches system is actually really nice but not near as good as my m3 or saabaru (uses sti steering rack).

Oh no! That sucks! I'm sorry the electric power steering is so bad. Driving into the next lane is no good!

I have an E90 M3 and never want to give it up. The hydraulic power steering and N/A engine make it a future classic. I have the DCT as well and love it in heavy traffic.

I have driven the Porsche 991 and their electric power steering does seem like the best in the business. But I still prefer the 997's steering to it greatly.
